The Big Reveal

I've been spending lots of time the last few weeks digging into the edits I received from my editor (remember those blasphemous commas?). Oofda. It's not fun work, but it's necessary work.

I have finished all my line edits (that's deleting all those extra commas, fixing spelling errors, etc.), and I'm working on a couple developmental edits she gave me.

But in the mean time, as I'm whittling away at all my edits, I commissioned an artist to create the cover for Running Home, and might I say, it turned out beautifully.

Wanna see it?? Okay!

We have Margaret lounging on Waikiki beach with her stack of books, staring off into the distance, that melts into the forests and bluffs of northern Minnesota, where she's from. It's the perfect meld of past and present, home and escape.

I'm so so happy with how it turned out. I worked with Esther at Meraki Cover Designs and she did such an amazing job capturing the story and listening to my wants and ideas. I'm in love with it!

So what's next? I am hoping to finish up the very last of my edits this week. Then I need to format the pages for printing - get them in order, add some chapter art, etc. Once I have the book formatted, I think I get to send her off for printing! I have to do a little more research into the intricacies of the different publishing companies I want to use, but long story short: it's not too far away before Margaret and her story come to life.

In the mean time, I'll keep drinking lots of caffeine, typing furiously at my keyboard, and dreaming of the day I'll see my cover on the bookshelf of my local Barnes & Nobel.
